Regarding Congestion on the Odin World Server (03/03/2026)
FINAL FANTASY XI Producer/Director Yoji Fujito has prepared a special message regarding measures that will be implemented in order to deal with congestion on the Odin World server.

=====
Greetings, everyone. I'm Yoji Fujito, the producer and director for FINAL FANTASY XI. First off, I would like to thank all of you for playing FFXI!

Once again, we are seeing periods of congestion on the game's servers, this time with the Odin World, so I'd like to take a moment to explain what measures we will be taking to help address the issue.

On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, we suspended the creation of new characters and character transfers for the Asura World server, and did the same for the Bahamut World server on Thursday, October 9, 2025. However, in doing so, we have noticed that congestion on the Odin World server has been increasing rapidly, where similar measures are now necessary.

Of all the game's Worlds, the Odin server has consistently ranked just behind the top two in terms of concurrent users and, since the latter half of last year, has become the most popular choice for new adventurers starting their journey. Like what happened with the Asura and Bahamut Worlds, too many concurrent users can overwhelm the servers, leading to slowdown in the game and the potential for other related issues.

Therefore, we are once again planning to implement the following measures on the Odin World server from Tuesday, March 10, 2026 in order to help maintain the game's stability going forward. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding regarding this matter.

====
■ Steps to be taken
- The option to use the Character World Transfer Service to transfer characters to the Odin World server will be suspended.
- The option to create new characters on the Odin World server will be suspended. (*1)
- The Vana'diel Adventurer Recruitment Program will be suspended for the Odin World server.
*1: This excludes characters that already exist on the Odin World server.
Note: Since there is a possibility that similar issues may arise on other overly crowded Worlds as well, we are also considering other potential measures that will help equalize the populations across Worlds.
====

We plan to continue monitoring the number of logged-in users as well as various other factors and will seek to resume the above-mentioned services and functionality when appropriate.

In regards to the Asura and Bahamut World servers, although there has been a slight decrease in the overall player population, the server load remains relatively unchanged, so we are continuing to close off those Worlds to new adventurers at this time.

In addition to developing and making revisions to the in-game content, we are also working hard to maintain an environment where players around the world can properly enjoy the game, so we appreciate your continued support of FINAL FANTASY XI!
